“Once in a golden hour,
I cast to earth a seed,
And up there grew a flower,
That others called a weed.”

CONSIDER: What is the metaphorical meaning of this poem? How does this brief poem apply to us as individuals? What is the real difference between a "flower" and a "weed"?

I think the poem is applicable to us as individuals because (as I understood it) it refers to how people can interpret things differently, such as, say, someone's character, and how, while someone may judge someone in a negative light, it doesn't necessarily mean that person is correct, nor does it mean the person being judged is really a "weed" instead of a "flower."
ReplyDeleteThis poem is talking about us as individuals. Since we all are different in every way, you can only expect us to have different opinions. The only real difference between a flower and a weed is the individual's perspective of it. While one person may think their flaws make them a weed, another may think that their flaws make them a flower.
