"You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the
consequences of avoiding
reality."
- Ayn Rand (1905-1982)
CONSIDER: Why would someone choose to avoid reality? What could be the consequences of avoiding reality? How can we as individuals learn to cope with reality?

a person might want to avoid reality to avoid the pain that goes along with reality. so if someone died that was close to you, you might pretend like everything is okay, and that it never happened. you are avoiding the current reality. but you cant avoid the conseuences of avoiding reality. you cant avoid the deep depression your trying so hard to ignore.
ReplyDeleteeverybody these days want to avoid reality. they just dont want to experience the bad in life. the consequences of avoiding reality could be something coming back to you. just by not realizing the reality of things, something two times as worse could happen. you should just accept what happens and move on. we all should realize that there is good and bad in life. everything will not go your way.
ReplyDeleteMost people want to avoid reality when they are in a very depressed part of their life. People try to avoid reality by drinking too much or doing drugs. The consequence could be rehab, jail, or even a worse life. We can cope with life by doing things we enjoy to get our minds off of things going on in reality.
ReplyDeleteWell, some people would choose to avoid reality because they don't want to face the heartache that is comes with reality. In a way, I choose to avoid reality. I think everyone has at some point in their life. Now, there are some bad consequences that go along with avoiding reality; you could get so caught up with living in a fairy tale you begin to forget about the actual things that are taking place in your life. Sometimes I avoid reality because I feel like it will help me forget about my problems when the truth is ... it actually doesn't. Avoiding reality is a way to paint a perfect picture. I avoid reality to make it look like I'm okay when i'm really not. We as individuals can cope with reality by learning how to face our problems and try not look at things negatively.

ReplyDeleteSometimes the reality of what is happening in someones life is too much for them to handle or not necessarily what they wanted, so they hide from it and pretend its not there. The consequences of avoiding reality can be huge. It's like a wound,If you don't handle it and get medicine it will just fester and get worse! As individuals we should all learn to face reality head on because in the long run this is what prevents a situation from getting out of hand and SERIOUSLY messing up our lives.

ReplyDelete"I'd say people want to avoid reality because they want to take the easy way out of it. They just jumble something together just to say they're finished. In my opinion it's laziness. I'd rather take my time and do it right, instead of rush through it. You can't escape reality. If you don't do it right, it'll always come back to bite you."
Some people would want to avoid reality becasue they probably can't handle the pain that comes with it, but if they keep on avoiding reality, reality will come back at them hard. Some consequences of avoiding reality is that they can't live their same lives as it was before the obsticle came in the way. We can cope with reality by facing the obsticle head on and face your fears.

ReplyDeletethis is the simplist one yet. for me reality is symbolic for almost anything. take people procrastinating 'till the last minute to make a comment. the reality is the zero they will get if they dont do it. they may not care if get the zero but that doesnt make a difference. that is the consequence of avoiding reality.
Everyone wants to avoid reality because they don't want to experience the negative trials they come across. They should learn to cope with it by facing and dealing with problems they have in life. And be responsible for their actions.
ReplyDeletePeople avoid reality to generally avoid the hardship and pain that comes with it. Some people like to think as if they live in a fantasy world, where nothing goes wrong. Little do they know that when they wake up in the morning, that reality is still there, waiting to be faced. Life is hard sometimes, but as people we need to learn to face the facts and accept that we have to work to make things better. We need to realize that pushing our problems off to the side, isn't going to make them go away.

ReplyDeleteA person would Wana avoid reality to get away from every thing they have done wrong but then when the person realizes that she or he has been avoiding reality more consequences come to the person (bad memory) .and then people would try to help the person by trying to make her or he feel better.

ReplyDeleteA lot of people try really hard to avoid reality in any way possible. Away to avoid reality is that many people don’t want to admit or remember the bad experience in life. The consequences would be that anything you might have ignored in life will come back. Just remember that everything that happens in reality happens for a reason.
Nobody wants to face reality. People just want to be believe in happy endings and all but life is never going to be like that! Everything happens for a reason, and probably its for a good one.c
ReplyDeleteSomeone wouldn't want to face reality because they don't want to know what it is like to live in reality, they want to live in a fairytale. The problem is life isnt a fairytale you are always going to come across problems you dont want to face, everyone has, but you have to and the more you face reality, the more real you'll become.
